 The Virtue of Self-Discipline means self-control. It is doing what you really want to do, rather than being tossed around by your feelings like a leaf in the wind. You act instead of react. You get things done in an orderly and efficient way. With self-discipline, you take charge of yourself. Sobriety is needed for self-discipline. Sobriety is serious, solemn, and calm. It is being free form intoxication. The Virtue of Self-discipline leads to self-knowledge and self-respect and positive success.

On this day in 26 August, 1743, the Father of Modern Chemistry was born. Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier was a French citizen who discovered that air consists of a mixture of two gases which he called oxygen and nitrogen, discovered the law of conservation of mass and devised the modern method of naming compounds. His investment in a private company involved in collecting taxes led to his death by guillotine during the French Revolution.
